Press Release

The Prosecutor-General of the Republic continues his irresponsible march to cover his own failures. He deliberately ignores the grave suspicions that weaken the allegations relied upon which to propose a second indictment against President Michel Temer. He pretends not to see issues such as noncredible witnesses, inconsistencies between narratives and the incoherencies produced by a rushed, hastily conducted investigation.

By doing so, he attempts to create facts to cover up the urgent need to investigate former members of his team regarding which there are consistent indications that they have influenced the course of agreements to turn State’s evidence, and, therefore, the investigations themselves. By failing to fulfil minimum duties of care and zeal in his office, be it out of incompetence or negligence, he endangers the institute of said agreements. By accepting misleading, untruthful testimonies, he instituted the fraudulent plea agreement, under which crime pays. Scams, schemes and stratagems have become the rule for those who wish to rob the country of its institutional tranquillity.

The second complaint is full of absurdities. It speaks of payments made to the president in foreign accounts without any proof of the existence of an account held by the president in another country. It transforms licit campaign contribution into illicit ones, mixes facts and disseminates confusion in an attempt to manufacture credibility. It's fantastic realism in its purest form.

The president is certain that, at the end of this process, the truth - and not fabricated versions, fantasies and non-sequiturs - will prevail, and that the government will then be able to devote itself even more fiercely to facing Brazil’s real issues.
