A two-term federal deputy, orthopedist Luiz Henrique Mandetta (DEM/Mato Grosso do Sul) was responsible for the healthcare component of President Jair Bolsonaro's platform. The parliamentarian decided not to run for reelection in 2018, deciding rather to work actively for the victory of the PSL candidate.
Mandetta started in politics in 2005, when he became Municipal Secretary of Health for the city of Campo Grande (MS). In his second term as a federal deputy in 2012, he was chosen by his peers as chair of the Social Security and Family Commission (CSSF), one of the most important of the House.
Mandetta has a degree from the Gama Filho University (state of Rio de Janeiro), with a specialization in Orthopedics from the Orthopedics Service of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), and a specialization in Pediatric Orthopedics from the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Atlanta. He is also a specialist in Health Services and Systems Management by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
