Paulo Guedes

A graduate of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) with a master's degree from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) and a PhD in Fiscal Policy from the University of Chicago (USA), Rio native Paulo Roberto Nunes Guedes is a reference in the education and financial sectors.

He is one of the founders of the Pactual bank, where he led the fixed income area as chief macro economist. Became a famous figure back in the 1980s due to his criticism of the Cruzado Economic Plan.

Was a founding member and president of the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets (Ibmec), one of the most respected educational institutions in the country. Founded BR Investimentos, a private equity fund focused on education that later became Bozano Investimentos, a fund manager where he served as CEO until recently.

Was also one of the creators of the Millenium Institute, a think tank formed by intellectuals and businessmen that advocates, among other values, for ownership rights, the market economy, representative democracy, the rule of law and institutional limits to government action.
