After 18 days in hospital, President Jair Bolsonaro has been discharged. He left Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo late morning on Wednesday (February 13).

According to the Spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, General Otávio Rêgo Barros, Bolsonaro is going straight to the Alvorada Palace, the president's official residence in Brasília. Rêgo Barros said the president will remain under medical observation and was instructed to continue to rest in the coming days.

The latest medical report stated the president's lungs have now normalized. Bolsonaro is pain-free, has no fever and has achieved recurrent bowel function, all of which have made the doctors comfortable to discharge the president. While admitted, he performed respiratory and motor physical therapy exercises, including short walks outside his room.

Successful surgery

Admitted on January 27, the president underwent intestinal tract reconstruction surgery the next day. After presenting consistent improvement, Bolsonaro left the Semi-Intensive Care Unit and was transferred to a room in the hospital on Monday (February 11). Last week, he was diagnosed with possible pneumonia, but was quickly medicated and recovered well.
