The Brazilian trade balance reached US$ 58.3 billion in 2018, the second-best result for the last 40 years, according to a report released by the Ministry of Economy on Wednesday (2).
The country's trade flow, which is equivalent to exports and imports added together, registered an increase of 13.7%. The value exported was of US$ 239.5 billion, a 9.6% hike and the best performance in the last five years. Imports went up 19.7%, reaching US$ 181.2 billion.
The positive result with foreign market sales was driven by the expansion of trade in basic and manufactured products. This is because of an increase in the volume of products shipped and prices.
China, the European Union and the United States are among the country's main partners. In Latin America, Argentina remains Brazil's main partner.
