Industry confidence rises in January

The Brazilian productive sector began the year optimistic with the country's economy. The Industry Confidence Index (ICI), measured by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), reached the highest level since August last year. The rate reached 98.2 points in January, a 2.6-point increase in comparison with December.
The result shows that the industry is confident economic growth will accelerate over the next six months, leading to a better business environment and reduced unemployment. Expectations are improved in 12 of the 19 sectors surveyed.
In addition, companies are also expecting an increase in employed workforce. The estimate is that 19.8% will increase hiring in the next three months. The positive result was also drive by the increased level of satisfaction of entrepreneurs with current demand.
