Bolsonaro comments on Cesare Battisti arrest, affirms "justice will be done"
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday celebrated the capture of former Italian guerrilla leader Cesare Battisti, who had been arrested in Bolivia. In his Twitter account, the president said that "justice will finally be done."
Battisti was sentenced to life imprisonment in Italy for the murder of four people in the 1970s. He then spent years in Brazil to avoid arrest, and now must be extradited to serve his sentence in his home country.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security said they are taking the necessary steps to have Battisti delivered to the Italian authorities.
Parabéns aos responsáveis pela captura do terrorista Cesare Battisti! Finalmente a justiça será feita ao assassino italiano e companheiro de ideais de um dos governos mais corruptos que já existiram no mundo (PT).
