In just under three years, the federal government implemented a series of reforms to lift the country out of recession and improve the lives of Brazilians. When assessing his administration from May 2016 to now, after being honoured by biodiesel producers in Brasilia, the President of the Republic, Michel Temer, stated: "We did right by Brazil".

The president was handed a trophy by representatives of the Brazilian Union of Biodiesel and Biokerosene (Ubrabio), the Brazil Biodiesel Producers Association (Aprobio) and the Mixed Biodiesel Parliamentary Front. The trophy is a sign of the contributions made by the government in the economy and the sector. Among them, RenovaBio's sanction, state policy for the use of biofuels.

Changes

"It was worth doing what we did," Temer said, referring to approved measures such as the public spending cap, labour modernisation and the upper secondary education reform. For the president, the government "was brave" in making essential reforms. Others, such as the change in the pension system, were placed on the political agenda. "We are coming to the end of this administration victorious."

In Temer's view, the reforms and measures that lifted Brazil out of recession, were made possible by wide-reaching dialogue with the National Congress and Brazilian society. "Optimism carries good energy. I'm getting ever more optimistic," he said.
