The National Development Bank (BNDES) will support the expansion works of Florianópolis International Airport. The institution approved the financing of R$ 376 million to the airport concessionaire. The amount corresponds to 61% of the total R$ 620 million budget, and constitutes mandatory investments under the concession agreement entered into between the company and the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

After the interventions, the terminal will feature ten air bridges; a shopping area measuring approximately 4,000 m2; a new check-in area with 44 counters; eight baggage carousels (two international, five domestic and one reversible); and 14 boarding gates (three international and 11 domestic).

The investment plan also provides for: the construction of a new aircraft yard with 18 positions (more than three times the current capacity); the construction of a new car park with 2,530 parking spaces; the construction of a new taxiway for aircraft; and adjustments to runway and takeoff lanes, including the deployment of safety areas at runway thresholds.

The concession of Florianópolis airport is the result of the fourth round of airport concessions held by the federal government. It will be valid for 30 years, with compulsory investments expected to occur by the end of October 2019.
