One of the main growth drivers for the Brazilian economy in the third quarter of the year, agriculture and livestock recorded a 0.7% growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In the period ended in September, total output reached R$ 61.9 billion, as reported the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
Agribusiness GDP increased by 2.5% compared to the same period last year, or 0.4% in last-twelve-month terms, also according to the institute.
Growth
Still per the IBGE numbers, the sector's good performance is partly explained by yields gains in coffee crops, which increased production by 26.6%, and herbaceous cotton, up 28.4%. National GDP grew 0.8% in the period, totalling R$ 1.7 trillion.
