With a surplus of US$ 6.12 billion, the Brazilian trade balance has had the best October since 1989 (the year the current time series began), according to numbers released on Thursday (1 November) by the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC).

The surplus is the result of US$ 22.2 billion in exports and US$ 16.1 billion in imports. The October figures have led to a year-to-date trade surplus for Brazil of US$ 47.7 billion, or a US$ 56.2 billion surplus in last-twelve-month terms.
