The expansion of Brazil's agricultural sector and extractive industry have helped drive a 16.6% increase in Brazilian exports of the two sectors in October compared to the same month last year.
According to the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), agricultural exports increased by 35.8% in the period, including increases of 17.2% in sales of soy and 15.1% for meat. The extractive industry registered a 32.9% growth in foreign trade in October.
Still according to the FGV, the trade war between the United States and China and the rising prices of some goods were the biggest factors contributing to the positive result. Brazil's trade balance with China, for example, went from US$ 19 billion in October 2017 to US$ 23 billion last month.
