Exam allows professionals trained abroad to practice medicine in Brazil
The second phase of the 2017 edition of Brazil's National Exam for the Revalidation of Medical Diplomas Issued by Foreign Higher Education Institutions (called "Revalida" for short) has been scheduled for 17 and 18 November this year. The registration period for this phase will be announced soon, according to the Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep), responsible for the test. The fee is R$ 450.
The second phase will consist of a Clinical Skills Assessment, in which applicants will be evaluated in basic care activities such as investigating clinical records, interpreting additional tests, formulating diagnostic hypotheses, demonstrating medical procedures and advising patients or relatives.
The exam
The Revalida allows the revalidation of diplomas earned by physicians who have graduated abroad and want to practice in Brazil. To participate, applicants must be Brazilian or foreign nationals with legal residence status in the country and have a diploma issued by a foreign higher education institution. The HEI must be recognised by the ministry of education or equivalent body of the country of origin and be authenticated by the Brazilian consular authority in that country.
