Presidential sanction authorises direct sale of pre-salt oil
Two ordinary laws and a supplementary one signed by President Michel Temer this Thursday (14 June) make new provisions on Brazil’s oil trade, oversight on artisanal products and the expansion of the Federal District and Surrounding Area Integrated Development Region (Ride).
Planned for publication in tomorrow’s (15 June) edition of the Federal Official Gazette (DOU), Law 13,679/2018 allows the direct sale of oil from the pre-salt layer to companies without the need for intermediaries. Now, Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) will become the company responsible for the negotiations to sell federal oil, following the benchmark prices set by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Law 13,680/2018, in turn, regulates food products of animal origin (such as dairy products) produced in artisanal fashion, which will be identified by a single seal with the indication “Arte” (‘art’). In order to be marketed, these products must pass inspection by state-level public health authorities, with requirements that have been simplified and adapted to the sizes and purposes of different product manufacturers.
Another bill signed into law today is Complementary Law No. 163, which includes 12 municipalities in the Federal District and Surrounding Area Integrated Development Region (Ride). With the expansion, the region will now be composed by the Federal district, 29 municipalities from the state of Minas and four from Minas Gerais.
