Thanks to digitalisation, foreigners visiting Brazil can now benefit from a much more efficient visa application process. In a comparison between April 2018 and 2017, the number of visas issued to Canadians increased by 74%; 52%, in the case of Australians; 44% for US citizens; and 25% for Japanese nationals.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, this growth results directly from the introduction of an e-visa system, which enables visitors to apply for their visas online. This reduction in bureaucracy has cut the average visa issuance time from 40 to only 3 days.
According to estimates of the World Tourism Organization, tools such as this can increase a country’s tourist inflow by up to 25%.
