Job Market
Formal employment has the best February in four years

After a long economic recession, the Brazilian labour market continues to show signs of recovery. Data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) show that 61,100 formal work positions were created in February. This is the best result for the month in four years.
The number is the remaining balance after a count of all admissions and dismissals of workers with a formal contract. Put simply, this means that more people were hired than fired last month.
In last-12-month terms, the accumulated job creation surplus is at 102,400, a clear sign of job market recovery. "These results confirm the economic recovery and the resumption of job creation. The measures adopted by the government were sound," said Acting Labour Minister Helton Yomura.
