Japanese tourists can now issue e-visas to travel to Brazil
Japanese tourists wishing to visit Brazil will now have an easier time planning their trip: the country has started issuing e-visas to tourists from the Asian country. To get started, visitors can access http://www.vfsglobal.com/brazil-evisa/ and request an electronic permit to enter the country. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the measure is expected to attract an additional 20,000 Japanese tourists to Brazil per year, adding to a total expected annual inflow of 99,000 tourists.
The systems is considerably faster: the entire process, including the application, payment of fees, review, granting and issuance of visas is usually done in 72 hours. The visa is valid for two years and does not prevent people from requesting a traditional visa through the local Brazilian consulate.
The Japanese now join the Australians, the first to benefit from the simpler visa issuance system. Canadian and US citizens are next. Check out below how many tourists these countries are expected to send to Brazil this year and how much they are likely to spend:
Australia

Australian citizens were the first (since 21 November) to be able to apply for e-visas to enter Brazil. According to the Ministry of Tourism, 62,000 Australians are expected to visit the country, and inject about US$ 77.4 million in the economy.
Canada

Canadians will be able to apply for Brazilian e-visas as of 18 January. This measure is expected to attract 87,000 tourists to the country and inject US$ 96.7 million into the economy.
US

United States citizens will have the right to apply for e-visa beginning on 25 January. Projections indicate that the new system will help bring 719,000 US visitors to Brazil this year, who are expected to spend approximately US$ 890 million in the country.
