Brazil, US presidents discuss progress in relations

In a telephone conversation this Saturday (18), Brazilian President Michel Temer and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, discussed ways to advance bilateral relations between the two countries. According to a statement by the Special Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic (SECOM-PR), President Temer was praised by his US counterpart for the "important results achieved" with recent reforms.
This was the second telephone conversation between the two Heads of State. In the phone call, they exchanged views on the changes underway in Brazil and the United States. "President Trump revealed that he was aware of and monitored these transformations, and congratulated President Temer for the important results already achieved," said SECOM in the note.
President Temer emphasised the importance of deepening a Brazil-US bilateral agenda focused on growth and based on the expansion of trade and investment. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular contact and left the channels for dialogue open. Mr. Trump also mentioned interest in receiving the Brazilian President for a future visit to the United States.

President Michel Temer received a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump on the afternoon of March 18. It was the second telephone conversation between the two Heads of State.
They exchanged views on the ongoing reforms in Brazil and the USA. President Trump revealed that he was aware of and monitored these transformations, and congratulated President Temer for the important results already achieved.
President Michel Temer emphasised that a number of recent economic indicators suggest that economic growth and employment have returned. He also stressed the importance of deepening a Brazil-US bilateral agenda focused on growth and based on the expansion of trade and investment. He also commented that, over the next week, he will have meetings with the Brazil-US Chamber of Commerce and the Council of the Americas. In both occasion, President Temer will reiterate the importance of bilateral ties and the growing potential of the Brazilian economy.
By initiative of President Trump, the two leaders also addressed current issues of regional import.
The two also agreed to maintain regular contact and left direct channels of dialogue open, agreeing that they would get back in touch whenever matters of mutual concern emerged. President Trump also took the opportunity to mention his interest in hosting a future visit by President Michel Temer to the United States.
